Hockey: Elk boys give top-ranked Duluth East a battle, but are ousted 4-2

A recent Elk River boys’ hockey game helped raise $250 for the American Cancer Society. The game included a segment of Coaches vs. Cancer, featuring Elk River’s interim coach Ben Gustafson and Jack Gravel, the head coach of the North Metro Stars. Coaches vs. Cancer is a partnership involving the Minnesota State High School League and high school coaches. Elk River hockey players used pink tape on the sticks and hockey socks to add to the atmosphere, and there was a Chuck-a-Duck segment during one of the intermissions. Photo by Bob Burley
