John “Big John” C. Ondracek Tue, 21 Jul 2015 18:30:04 +0000 John

John was born on October 8, 1945 in Glenwood, Minnesota to David and Margaret (Anderson). A year later, they moved to Miltona, where he grew up; he helped on the farm with his dad, went to Miltona School and graduated from Alexandria High School in 1963.
In the spring of 1963, he went to work at Sears and Caterpillar in Illinois, then came back to the Minneapolis area, where he met Priscilla in the fall of 1963. They married in the fall of 1964.
John went to work for Oildyne as a lathe operator until 1976, when he went to work for Mate Precision Tooling, where he retired from in 2010. He worked part time with the Sherburne County Water Patrol from 1982-1998. He was also involved with the Explorers and taught firearm safety.
He was involved in the Minnesota Sportsmen's Club, where he held many positions and shot trap. He loved to trap shoot and was very good at it. He also loved fishing and deer hunting.
In the last couple of years, his passion was going to Montana to buy bags of dirt to find sapphires and other gems. Yes, he did find some and made some into jewelry for family. He also enjoyed mind puzzles, jigsaw puzzles, playing Blackjack, and spending time with family and friends.
