Pedestrian airlifted after being struck by pickup in Elk River

A woman was airlifted to the hospital after being struck by a vehicle Tuesday night, Aug. 22, in Elk River.
The accident occurred near the intersection of 182nd Avenue and Twin Lakes Road, by an entrance to the Trout Brook Farm neighborhood.
Elk River Police Capt. Bob Kluntz said police were called there around 6:25 p.m. for a report of a motor vehicle-pedestrian crash.
The driver of the vehicle, a Ford Ranger pickup, was a 16-year-old girl from Nowthen; also in the vehicle was a 16-year-old Elk River boy. The pedestrian who was struck was a 53-year-old Elk River woman.
“She was airlifted to Hennepin County Medical Center and we have been told she is in stable condition,” Kluntz said Wednesday morning.
He said there was no indication of any alcohol use by the driver and police do not believe she was distracted by a phone or other device.
“We are still investigating at this time,” Kluntz said.
The Sherburne County Sheriff’s Office assisted with mapping the crash scene.
