Dump truck driver survives collision with BNSF train

The driver of a dump truck was taken to the hospital on July 31 after his truck was hit by a train along Highway 10 outside of St. Cloud, according to Sherburne County Sheriff Joel Brott.

The truck was crossing the railroad tracks on 32nd Street Southeast at 7:42 a.m. when it was hit by a BNSF train. The truck then hit a power pole, causing power lines to fall onto the eastbound lanes of Highway 10.

Two additional semitrailers and three passenger vehicles traveling in the eastbound lanes of Highway 10 were damaged from the debris.

The driver of the dump truck, identified as Allen Keene, 26, of St. Cloud, was the only person injured. His injuries were believed to be minor. He was taken to St. Cloud Hospital.

The intersection where the collision happened is not controlled by lights or a crossing gate. There is a stop sign at the intersection.
