Inaugural spring musical on new stage captured several awards
The cast and crew of Zimmerman High School’s inaugural spring musical “The King and I” in its new auditorium received high honors from Hennepin Theatre Trust’s Spotlight Program.
The Spotlight Program is set up to help educate those involved in high school musical theater by having professionals in the field offer workshops and evaluations of high school programs. The program also offers awards to school and individuals who do exceptional work both on stage and backstage.
Zimmerman received several honors this past spring with the production.
Honorable mention was awarded for Acting Performance by an Ensemble, Technical Crew and A/V Board operators.
Ellie Palashewsk won Outstanding Performance in a Supporting Role.
Honorable Mention for Performance in a Leading Role went to Linny Briggs and Josh Freeman.
Honorable Mention for Performance in a Supporting Role went to Joey Kirk.
Colton Reschke received a Technical Leadership nomination.
Those performers who received awards were invited to participate in a Spotlight Showcase with other award winners from around Minnesota. This event was held Tuesday, June 13, at the State Theater in Minneapolis.
