Police report: The fugitive that wasn’t, a stolen license plate and a fight at a counseling session

A man who looked like fugitive Joseph Jakubowski was seen at Wapiti Park Campground in Elk River, and police were alerted at 8:34 p.m. April 12.
Police contacted the FBI to gather information about the suspect and the Sherburne County Sheriff’s Office Drug Task Force assisted with the incident, according to the police report.
Authorities made contact with the man and learned that he was actually a 36-year-old Eau Claire, Wis., man who resembled Jakubowski, according to Elk River Police Capt. Bob Kluntz.
The FBI was advised.
Jakubowski, 32, is the Wisconsin man accused of stealing more than a dozen guns and sending a threatening 161-page manifesto to President Donald Trump. He was arrested April 14 in southwestern Wisconsin following a massive 10-day manhunt.

Stolen license plate used in theft of gas
A rear license plate was reported stolen April 14 off a company vehicle at Morrell Companies in Elk River,
Ramsey Police took a report of a gas drive-off involving the same license plate at a gas station in Ramsey at 9 a.m. April 14. The suspect vehicle is a blue Dodge Neon with duct tape on the rear bumper surrounding the license plate.

Fight at counseling session ends in charge
A Elk River man, 55, was arrested for domestic assault stemming from an incident that occurred during a family counseling session in Elk River.
According to the police report, the man had grabbed the victim’s face and pushed, prompting the victim to punch the man in self-defense. A witness tried to get between the two, but the man moved the witness out of the way and twisted the victim’s arm.
Staff called police at 7:43 a.m. April 13.

She gets fake check for online sale of shelf
An Elk River woman reported receiving a check in the mail for a shelf that she was selling online for $400. When she took the check to the bank, they told her it was a fake.
She reported the forgery to police April 14.

Motorcyclist injured when car cuts in front
An Elk River man, 70, was injured when a small green car cut in front of his motorcycle, causing him to drive onto the shoulder to avoid a collision and hit a mailbox in the 22000 block of Meadowvale Road.
The motorcycle driver injured his hand and was treated at the scene by a paramedic. The motorcycle was damaged.
The incident was reported at 3:12 p.m. April 14.

Purse stolen from locked vehicle
A Princeton woman reported that someone stole her purse from her locked vehicle while she was inside Sally Beauty Supply in Elk River.
The purse is black with a zebra print on the front.
The theft was reported at 3:48 p.m. April 13.

Stacy man arrested in domestic incident
A Stacy man, 22, was arrested April 13 fifth-degree doestic assault and driving after suspension following an incident at a home in Elk River.
