Sherburne County is the fastest-growing county in the state, according to the latest U.S. Census Bureau figures.
The county’s population increased 2.1 percent between July 1, 2015, and July 1, 2016.
By comparison, Minnesota’s population as a whole rose 0.7 percent in the same period.
Sherburne County’s population now stands at an estimated 93,528, up from 91,623 a year earlier and 88,499 in 2010.
Here’s how area counties ranked among Minnesota’s 87 counties in terms of population growth from 2015 to 2016, according to the census estimates:
•Isanti, fourth, 1.5 percent growth.
•Wright, 12th, 1 percent growth.
•Hennepin, 13th, 1 percent growth.
•Anoka, 25th, 0.6 percent growth.
•Mille Lacs, 35th, 0.5 percent growth.
Sherburne is the 12th largest county in the state by population; Wright is 10th.
