Fifth annual event put on by McCoy’s Pub for CAER

The fifth annual St. Patrick’s Day 5K sponsored by McCoy’s Irish Pub in Elk River attracted a record 427 entrants.

The 5K Walk and Run for Community Aid Elk River, the local food shelf, corresponds with Minnesota FoodShare’s March Campaign.

Before the race, some gathered in McCoys Pub to stay warm and enjoy one another’s company.

This year’s event was held on Saturday, March 11. Funds raised are still being tabulated, but organizers say they are on track to exceed last year’s donation of $10,000.

The route runs through historic downtown Elk River. The primary organizers of the event include McCoy’s and Lisa Holien, Karen Stelk, Tracy Redepenning, Tim Evenson and “Big” John Larson.
