The Elk River City Council recently appointed a new member to the Library Board for a term that would end Dec. 31, 2018.
Rita Dreissig was appointed March 6 by the council, replacing a member who was terminated due to lack of meeting attendance. The council did not mention which member was terminated.
“The library is a valuable resource in our community,” Dreissig wrote in her application. “As a library patron, a former employee, a current volunteer, and a longtime member of the community, I think I can contribute and am interested in its workings and functions.”
Dreissig said she was worked at ISD 728 for 33 years, most of them as a library and specialist at the junior high level. She later worked as a library aide at the Elk River Public Library for eight years.
Dietz said Dreissig immediately came to mind when he learned a new board member would be needed.
