The Spectrum Sting started their season with a 55-15 victory over Brooklyn Center, but were unable to continue that success as they fell 46-80 to Milaca on Thursday, Dec. 1.

Emily Brueckner led all Sting scorers with 12 points, while Kirstin Robbins contributed 10. The two combined shooting 5-for-11 from the three-point arc. Chloe Bechtel and Jessie Hansen each grabbed seven rebounds, while Britt Robbins and Abby Thompson both had four.

Defensively, the Sting took three charges during the game, two by Bechtel and one by Tara Peterson.

“Milaca is a big, strong team and we were intimidated to start”, said head coach Cory Hund.  “We had stretches where we played well.  Moving forward, we need to extend those stretches to last the entire game.”

Up next, the Sting will host Maple Lake on Tuesday, Dec. 6. It will be their first home game of the season and they will look to turn things around against the winless Irish.
