NorthStar Theatre held its opening of “Hard Knock Life” on Nov. 25 and showings will continue through Dec. 4 at the Elk River High School Little Theater.
The play has been written by Jeff Maas, of Champlin and Jamie Cassidy, Otsego. It is the continuing story of the orphans from the musical Annie, set in 1933 and 34.
Hard Knock Life gives the emotional highs and lows of what life could have been like in New York City December 1933. The time period accurate tale features a wide variety of music and storytelling that gives a more in-depth look into the folks living the hard knock life.
“It’s a touching and sometimes humorous script that includes lots of historical detail,” according to the play’s director, Eileen Anderson. “The music is fabulous.”
The cost of tickets is $15 for children and $17 for adults. They can be purchased online at www.nstartheatre.org.
There is a mix of matinee and evening performances Nov. 26-27 and Dec. 1-4. For showtimes, visit www.nstartheatre.org.
