Pompeii chef wins first at Pizza Expo

 

Alec Henrickson, general manager/chef at Pompeii Pizzeria in Elk River, has been named a first place winner at the 2016 Pizza Expo in Las Vegas. His winning creation is the Francesca’s Glaze pizza, shown here. It has a Neapolitan crust with cracked red pepper, fresh mozzarella cheese, salami, whole plum tomatoes and red onions, topped with a balsamic glaze. The judges named Henrickson’s pizza first place in the non-traditional category, northwest region, USA.

The Pizza Expo is the largest competition of its type in the world.
