The third period at Bemick’s Ice Arena began with the Royals down 1-0, but Paetyn Levis wanted to make sure that didn’t last long.

Just one minute into the third period, Levis scored an even-strength goal with help from Peyton Farrell and Ellie Feilen. The goal erased the advantage Amanda Flemming gave Sartell/Sauk Rapids midway through the first period.

The game stayed tied for almost eight minutes, before Flemming once again took a shot off a pass from Brooke Walters and fired it in the back of the net. Just two minutes later, Walters scored a goal of her own to increase the lead. The Royals were not able to fight back from the two quick goals, eventually losing by a 3-1 score on Tuesday.

The Royals (1-1) can take positives from this game, including outshooting their opponent 14-4 in the scoreless second period on their way to a 28-26 advantage in shots on goal.

“We were pretty confident with how we played,” Abbie Ellis said, adding that the second period was definitely the best period of the night for Rogers.

Rogers will move forward and have six days to prepare for its next opponent, Champlin Park. It is one of three consecutive home games for the Royals in the next nine days.
