The Zimmerman Thunder picked up their first volleyball win over Rockford 25-23, 25-20, 18-25, 25-12 on Thursday.
Kills leaders were Amira Samaha with 11, Anissa Rosario 9, Danielle Williams 8 and Ashley Pool 8. Kayla Christopherson made 33 aces and aced 5 serves. Pool had 20 digs and Carlie Lage 17.
“Our offense really came alive this game,” said coach Cassandra Olson, noting that the team tallied 41 kills compared to last week’s 27 against Princeton. “Defensively, the team racked up 81 digs.”
Senior Heather Nagengast had to leave an ankle sprain in the third game. She and fellow senior, Janessa Ortberg (ankle sprain), should be back in the rotation when Zimmerman faces the defending conference champions, Mora, on Thursday.
Zimmerman will host Breck on Tuesday.
