Cross country: Royal boys 10th, girls 21st in St. Olaf prep showcase

The Rogers cross country teams opened their season at the St. Olaf High School Showcase on Friday in Northfield.
The Hopkins boys placed first among 29 teams. Chaska’s Alec Anderson was individual champion in 16:10.
Rogers placed 10th. Tyler Bethke placed 16th, Caleb Burke 39th, Ben Sylvester 83rd, Carl Parent 84th and Karl Gorecki 89th.
The East Ridge girls placed first among 26 teams. The individual winner was Shakopee’s Tess Misgen in 15:12.8.
Rogers placed 21st. Rogers’ top five were Hannah Teasdale 58th, Jenna Karls 86th, Maddie Mikolich 97th, Ellie Carill 123rd and Whitney Meyer 139th.
“The boys’ and girls’ teams both ran well considering the difficult course and humidity,” said Rogers coach Chad Kreuser. “We are excited with some of our really good finishing times and hoping to gradually improve throughout the year.”
