A Santiago couple escaped a burning house on Aug. 25 but not before one of them suffered severe burns, according to Sherburne County Sheriff Joel Brott.
Sherburne County Sheriff’s deputies were called at 3:31 p.m. to the home at 16098 57th Street in St. in Santiago Township. They arrived to find the home on fire with flames exiting the roof.
Linda Bentley, 61, and her husband Terry Bentley, 62, had escaped the residence, but Linda Bentley suffered severe burns across her body.
She and Terry were treated on scene by Centra Care Ambulance.
Linda Bentley was eventually transported by air to Hennepin County Medical Center where she remains in the ICU burn unit.
Terry was treated and released at the scene.
Becker, Big Lake and Clear Lake fire departments fought the fire. The home was a total loss, Brott said.
