Spectrum Sting teams will have a mascot this year for the first time, a rugged-looking fellow with a shield, named “Sting,” who was introduced during an event at the school on Monday, Aug. 3.

A press release from the school stated that Mark Haugstad created the final mascot design, Matt Fahner built much of the foundation, football player Shane Herrlin submitted an idea leading to the design, and Cindy Wiyninger and Erin Rolf took the paper concept and “made it come alive over the summer.”

Another football player, Nash Gleason, wore the costume at the event and “demonstrated some of Sting’s initial personality.”

The school also introduced its new logo, shown here.
