The Zimmerman City Council approved at its Aug. 4 meeting several license applications for new owners to operate Zimmerman Bowling Alley, the formerly vacant building at 25920 Gateway Drive.

The council OK’d applications for a license to operate a bowling alley, a liquor license allowing sales of 3.2 percent liquor and of serving alcohol on Sunday, and another license permitting liquor to be sold until 2 a.m. The license applications were signed July 24 by Teresa Parsons, of Zimmerman, who is listed as the bowling alley’s owner.

City officials had discussed during a June meeting the sale of the old bowling-alley building and anticipated seeing the business applications once the sale had closed. At the most recent council meeting, they said the new licenses are effective Oct. 1.

A call to the numbers on the license applications reached Dan Freih, who said the new owner has been busy and will be releasing more information about the new business after Sept. 1. He confirmed there is a lot to do in preparing for the goal of opening early this fall. The owner’s representative said there’s been work in progress nearly every day.
