Elk River gets budget award

For the sixth consecutive year, the city of Elk River has received the Distinguished Budget Presentation Award from the Government Finance Officers Association.

The award is for the city’s 2014 fiscal year budget document. To receive the award, the city had to satisfy nationally recognized guidelines for effective budget presentation. The guidelines are designed to assess how well the city’s budget serves as a policy document, a financial plan, an operations guide and a communications device.

A panel of independent reviewers examined the budget and voted to give the city the award.

Mayor John Dietz congratulated Finance Director Tim Simon and his department at Monday’s City Council meeting.
