“Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat” will be presented this week and next by SOAR Regional Arts, at St. Michael-Albertville High School, starting Thursday.

Directed by Megan Kelly Hubbell, “Dreamcoat” blends “pop, country, and rock into an uplifting, technicolored story of biblical proportions,” said Ellen Beaudry of SOAR in a press release. The music director is Dr. Randall Buikema.

Costuming is modern except for Joseph’s coat and Jacob’s robe. The concept is ” a group of friends and families coming together in present day to tell Joseph’s story,” said Beaudry.

Lead roles are Beth King of Minneapolis as the narrator and Evan Wilberg, an Anoka native living in Minneapolis, as Joseph.
Over 50 local actors, mostly from St. Michael, Otsego, Albertville, Rogers, and Elk River, fill out the cast.

Two ERHS students involved are Andrew Elmquist as one of Joseph’s brothers, and Emma Crane playing piano in the orchestra pit.

Performances are scheduled for Thursday, Friday and Saturday, 7:30 p.m., and Sunday at 2 p.m., both this week and next. Dates are July 24-25-26-27 and 31, and Aug. 1-2-3
