Elk River quarterback Trent Pink is getting some recognition from the recruiting web site after strong showings in summer camps.

The junior-to-be attended a regional camp in Chicago in April and impressed enough to be invited to the camp in Jacksonville, FL, for the top 250 underclassman prospects from the regional camps, on July 12.

Pink, 6-foot-3 1/2 and 190 pounds, also attended a camp at the University of Minnesota in early June were he was the top gun challenge winner in a series of quarterback tests.

“People have seen that he has the size and they’ve seen (on films) that he can run,” said John Pink, his father and the Elks quarterback coach. “At these camps they can see that he can pass, too.”

In the Elks’ ground-based offense, Pink threw just 12 passes last year, completing six for 88 yards and one touchdown. He carried the ball 76 times for 405 yards and five touchdowns.

The athlete has made visits to Big Ten schools Iowa and Illinois, said his father.
