‘Slide-a-thon’ aims for record

Living Waters Church in Elk River is hosting a 24-hour event to raise money for a new playground by attempting to break the Guinness World Record for most people down a slide in 24 hours.

The July 12 “slide-a-thon” will kick off with the first participant going down the slide at 10 a.m. The sliding will continue on to the next morning.

There will also be food, games, music, more sliding, an outdoor drive-in style movie and, yes, more sliding. The  whole community is invited. More than 600 people are needed to break the Guinness World Record.

The church is asking for a $1 donation from everyone who goes down the slide. Anyone who does participate in the slide-a-thon will receive a certificate as proof of their help in the event, and if the record is broken they will be eligible to receive an official certificate from Guinness World Records.

Living Waters Church is located just off of Meadowvale Road, west of the Elk River Country Club and just south of County Road 33/ Ranch Road.  Living Waters Church currently has Sunday service starting at 9:30 a.m., youth group meeting on Wednesday nights at 7 p.m. and many other ministries for people of all ages and walks of life.
