Elk River Legion got some breaks and took advantage to rally for a 5-4 win over Andover at home Monday evening.

The Elks trailed 4-1 before scoring four in the last of the fifth, helped by an error, bad-hop single, two hit-by-pitches, and a pop-up by Riley Givens that twisted in the wind and dropped for a two-run single with two outs.

“We’ll take it. We’ve had games where we’ve hit a lot of balls hard at people,” said coach Matt Loberg. “We really needed this win.”

Alex Babcock got the win, allowing seven hits and three walks, and striking out three. Two runs were unearned. The righthander gave up three runs in the first inning but settled down and went the distance.

Ben Boutain had a single, HBP and walk, and scored two runs. Eric Nyquist and Austin Heuer each notched an RBI single.

The Elks (3-2 in league, 4-6 overall) have a busy three days before a July 4 break.

They will host Osseo on Tuesday evening, and will play both Anoka and Champlin Park on Wednesday in Anoka.
