Frick honored for her volunteer efforts

Joan Frick can be found volunteering everywhere from the Elk River Library to the Sherburne National Wildlife Refuge.

Now she has been recognized for her efforts by being named the city’s Volunteer of the Month for June.

She was honored at the June 16 Elk River City Council meeting.

Here are her volunteer accomplishments:

•Volunteers eight to 10 hours a week at the Elk River Library

•Does weekly deposits for the United Way

•Volunteers at the Elk River Activity Center as needed

•Works on the Handke Nature Garden

•Takes tickets at events at Zabee and Little Theater

•Works at arena craft sales, ArtSoup and Sherburne National Wildlife Refuge

•Scans documents for city’s finance department

•Friends of the Elk River Library member for 25 years and officer for 20 years. Has run semi-annual book sale for about 20 years.
