North Ballet sets spring performance, other appearances

North Ballet Academy of Rogers will present its Spring Performance of “An Evening of Broadway” on Saturday, June 14, at Osseo High School, beginning 4:30 p.m.

North Ballet features dozens of students from Elk River, Rogers, St Michael, Zimmerman, Buffalo, Princeton, and other communities.
“This is going to be a wonderful performance,” said Katie Kocinski, the academy’s owner.

During Act 1, top students will perform excerpts of “Raymonda,” a ballet first presented by the Imperial Ballet at the Imperial Marjinsky Theatre in St. Petersburg, Russia, in 1898.

During Act 2, all Academy students will perform to a classic piece of Broadway music spanning a century of Broadway, including Lion King, Sound of Music, Singing in the Rain, and more.

Other events

North Ballet will also participate in the Rockin’ Rogers parade on June 21 for the first time. They were in the Maple Grove parade last year. “We look forward to showing the crowd some ballet from the top of our float,” said Kocinski.

North Ballet Youth Company has been presenting pieces of Nutcracker, its annual December show, to elementary schools.

As a member of the Elk River Area Arts Alliance, North Ballet will again have booths at ArtSoup on June 28.
