MPCA recognizes city wastewater facility

The city of Elk River is among 128 of the state’s 1,360 wastewater treatment facilities to receive an award from the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency.

To be eligible for the certificate of commendation, facility operators were required to submit all monitoring reports to the MPCA correctly and on time, demonstrate consistent compliance through monitoring or surveys and employ MPCA-certified operators.

“It is this kind of work that has enabled Minnesota to achieve a significant reduction of pollution coming from point sources,” according to the letter from MPCA Commissioner John Linc Stine to the city.
