Track: Royal girls 6th, boys 8th in Miss. 8 meet

The Rogers girls track team placed sixth and the boys were eighth among 10 schools in the Mississippi 8 track meet on Tuesday in Buffalo.

St. Michael-Albertville was champion for both boys and girls.


Royal girls placing

Jacqueline Lindfors scored in two distance events, placing third in the 3200 (12:06) and fifth in the 1600 (5:24). Jenna Karls was fourth in the 3200 (12:18) and Cailey Henderson sixth in the 1600 (5:32).

Heather Kilber was fifth in both 100 hurdles (16.53) and 300 hurdles (48.44). Erica Folk placed third in the 200 (26.91) and Hannah Sjerven fourth in discus (103-9). Michaela Taddeini was seventh in triple jump (34-2.5).

In relays, the 4×800 team of Hannah Lewis, Leah Lyngen, Henderson and Dacoda Speidel was third (10:11.95) and the 4×100 of Folk, Kala Berg, Kilber and Miranda Anderson was fourth (52.57).

Top four in individual events, and top two in relays, make all-conference. The top nine score points.

Royal boys placing

Top finishes were second-places by Trent Rgnonti in discus (149-7) and the 4×100 team of Austin Ball, Aanerud, Isaiah Fofanah and Nate Weber (44.39).

Reed Parent placed fourth in the 3200.

Fofanah took third in the 100 dash (11.39). Aanerud was fifth in the 200 (23.13). In the 3200, Reed Parent placed fourth 10:06) and Caleb Burke seventh (10:16). Mitchell Bracket high-jumped 6-0 for fourth place and Matthew Sjerven tied for eighth with 5-8.

Relay teams placing fifth were the 4×200 team of Steve Hines, Weber, Nate Baccam and Aanerud (1:34.13) and the 4×800 team of Jacob Nardini, Collin Young, Caleb St. Gelais and Burke (8:36).

Aanerud and Rgnonti each broke his own school record. The 4×100 team beat the previous conference meet record but was nipped by North Branch by .01 of a second.
