Softball: Thunder beat Flyers 6-0, finish conference 7-5

McKenna Butau pitched five shutout innings and Carlie Lage had three hits as the Zimmerman Thunder beat Little Falls 6-0 in their regular-season finale Friday.

Butau gave up three hits and struck out eight before Ashley Pool pitched the last two innings, striking out two. Pool had was coming back from an injury and hadn’t pitched in the last two games.

Lage was 3-for-4 with a double and two RBI’s, Gabby Antolak 2-for-2 with two intentional walks and an RBI, and Kayla Peterson 1-for-3 with two RBI’s.

The Thunder finished 7-5 in the Granite Ridge and were 10-7 overall heading into playoffs.

They were scheduled to open sectionals Monday at home against Annandale but the game was rained out and moved to Tuesday.
