Wagner is a local businesswoman who founded Open Reel Media and is the current owner of Pik Ur Flik kiosks in the Twin Cities and elsewhere. She and her family have lived in Elk River for eight years.

“I understand the value small businesses like mine bring to our community,” Wagner said. “I bring a fresh perspective to the council. I bring ideas and common sense needed to help Elk River move forward and grow. That perspective needs to come from a current and positive voice.”

Wagner has been involved in Rivers Edge Downtown Business Association and is a standing member of the Elk River Biz to Biz network. She co-chaired the marketing committee for Hockey Day Minnesota 2014, played at Elk River’s Handke Pit. And she was named the city of Elk River’s Volunteer of the Month in September 2013.

Wagner also volunteers with the Three Rivers Community Foundation, where she is a board member; the Women’s Leadership Council of the Sherburne County Area United Way; the Minnesota School of Business; and the Elk River Area Chamber of Commerce.

She is currently helping Twin Lakes Elementary school celebrate its School of Excellence award by assisting in their attempt to break the record in the Guinness Book of World Records for largest number of people popping bubble wrap.

Wagner said Elk River has a need for new business development, and she said she believes her experience can help with that.

She said her work with  community organizations around the area can help the council take steps to curb some of the social issues in the community, such as “drug use and crime.”

She and her husband, Mike, have three children: Lauren, 11, and Joey and Charlie, 8. Wagner is currently enjoying coaching her daughter’s fastpitch traveling softball team, and she enjoys volleyball and golf.
