Golf: Royals, Elks tie for 6th at St. Cloud tourney; Bunkers is runner-up

Luke Bunkers of Rogers was runner-up in the St. Cloud Invitational on Thursday while the Royals and Elk River tied for sixth place among 20 teams.

Bunkers shot one-over-par 73 at St. Cloud Country Club, two strokes off the lead.

Matt Bennett of Marshall was individual medalist with 71, leading the Tigers to the team title with 302. Brainerd was a distant second with 315.

The Royals and Elks each shot 323.

Other Rogers counting scores were Dylan Kline 79, Cruz Martinez 83 and Taylor Fischer 93.

Riley Johnson shot 77 to lead Elk River, tying for 10th place. Garrett Turnacliff with 78 tied for 16th. Joey Martin added an 82 and Dylan Chouinard 86.

Rogers will play at the Albert Lea Invitational on Friday and Saturday. Next for Elk River is the Brainerd Invitational on Wednesday.
