The Rogers Royals continued to roll with a doubleheader sweep of St. Michael-Albertville on Tuesday that kept them unbeaten in the Mississippi 8 and clinched at least a share of the championship.
The Royals won the opener 7-2 as Katelyn Kemmetmueller tossed a three-hitter with 12 strikeouts and three walks, while going 2-for-4 with two RBI.
Melea Bruns, Elli Anderson and Maddie Thibault were all 2-for-3, with Bruns knocking in the Royals’ first three runs with a double and single. Anderson had one RBI. The Royals had 12 hits off STMA’s Riley Carlson.
The Royals completed the job 6-2 with Bruns hurling a two-hitter with 12 strikeouts and one walk. Bruns was 1-for-2 with two more RBI at the plate.
Maddie Mikolich, Elli Anderson and Emily Hanford were all 3-for-4, with Anderson notching a triple and three RBI. Thiebault was 1-for-2 and Madison Anderson 1-for-4 (RBI). The Royals had 13 hits off Shania Kinghorn.
The Royals (11-0 conference, 15-1 overall) will close conference play with games against Princeton at home Friday and St. Francis there Saturday morning.
