Elk River blasted three home runs among 12 hits, breaking out of a recent slump, as they rolled past Armstrong 12-2 on Tuesday evening in Robbinsale.
Emma Pieper launched a three-run homer while Ali Krohn and Jayme Langbehn each had a solo shot. It was Pieper’s second homer of the spring and the first for Krohn and Langbehn.
Olivia Wolters, sophomore right-hander, pitched a two-hitter with seven strikeouts and one walk, improving to 3-0. The Elks had no errors.
Langbehn was 2-for-2, Krohn 2-for-3 and Courtney Jensen 2-for-3, each scoring two runs. Anna Pipenhagen 2-for-3 and Jessica Neuman 1-for-2, each with an RBI. Alyssa Germscheid was 1-for-3.
The Elks (10-2 conference, 13-2 overall) now go on the road against two formidable conference opponents, Anoka (14-2) on Wednesday and Maple Grove (13-1) on Thursday. Anoka beat the Elks 7-0 last Friday.
