Golf: Rogers boys 8th in Monticello Invitational

The Rogers golfers placed eighth among 10 teams at the Monticello Invitational on Wednesday.
Dylan Kline led the Royals with 79 after barely missing several putts. Cruz Martinez shot 83, Brady Groenwold 84 in his varsity debut, and Luke Bunkers 86 for a team total of 334.

Coach Dan Bursheim left the team’s No. 4 and 5 players in school to “keep the school/academic balance” and used three JV players.

Cambridge-Isanti’s Matt Swenson shot 69 for the medal.

Rogers will play at the St. Cloud Invitational on Thursday, and the Albert Lea Invitational on Friday and Saturday, facing a total of 16 ranked teams (in Class AAA and AA) in those events.
