The Spectrum girls placed sixth and the boys 11th among 21 teams on Tuesday in the Section 4A true-team meet at Maple Lake.
The Maple Lake boys and girls were both team champions.
Kayla Zimmerman and Sarina Staurseth, both seniors, led the Sting girls. Zimmerman placed second in the 800 (2:29.79), third in the 1600 (5:29.74) and 10th in discus (78-8 1/2). Staurseth took third in 100 hurdles (17.48), third in the 300 hurdles (52.46), third in triple jump (31-11) and 12th in high jump (4-6).
Lorna Bechtel was fifth in 300 hurdles (53.02), sixth in 100 hurdles (17.80) and seventh in high jump (4-8). Madeline Bursch was fourth in shot put (30-5). Brittany Waterhouse sixth in the 3200 (13:04.31). The 4-by-800 team placed sixth (11:14.70).
Caleb Rieck had the highest finish by the Sting boys, fourth in the 400 (54.64). Two Sting boys got under five minutes in the 1600 for the first time with Chad Schwinghammer was eighth (4:56.99) and Zach Anderson 11th (4:58.56). Clay Jackson was 10th in the 300 hurdles (49.61).
