The Elk River boys won three events while placing seventh among nine teams in the Section 4AAA true-team meet Tuesday at home.
Sophomore Lucas Trapp and senior Morris Dennis were the Elks bright spots. Trapp won the 800 (1:59.29) and the 1600 (4:30.84). Dennis won the 400 (50.29) and took second in the 200 (22.51).
Andover won with 898, followed by Osseo 784.5, Anoka 770, Champlin Park 762, Maple Grove 643.5, Coon Rapids 628.5, Elk River 545.5, Rogers 499.5, and Park Center 421.5.
The Elks are fielding a young roster. This year’s season prospects were weakened by three of last year’s top sprinters not coming out this year.
Nate Chesmore was sixth in long jump (20-1 3/4). Placing seventh were Daniel Deaton in triple jump (40-5 1/2), Cameron Berringer in pole vault (11-0), and Jeremy Hanson in the 800 (2:08.36). Placing ninth were Hanson in the 1600 (4:43.20) and Christopher Thorndal in pole vault (11-0). The Elk 4-by-400 placed fourth.
