Softball: Pipenhagen, Elks trip Centennial 8-0

Anna Pipenhagen threw a shutout and knocked in three runs as the Elk River Elks beat Centennial 8-0 at home Wednesday.

The Elks collected 11 hits in improving to 7-1 in conference and 11-1 overall. Going 2-for-4 were the first four hitters, Marie Deaton (two runs, RBI), Courtney Jensen (two-run double), Michaela Bruns (double) and Pipenhagen.

Jayme Langbehn and Ali Krohn each had a hit and RBI. Sydney Person started a four-run fourth by slicing a double into the left-field corner.

Pipenhagen gave up four hits and two walks, and struck out five.

The Elks got seven runs off Kelsey McAllister in three-plus innings, with Erica Potter-Winter finessing. Amber Montero was 2-for-3 for the Cougars.

The Elksd will play at Champlin Park on Thursday.
