Baseball: Foley downs Thunder 7-2

The conference-leading Foley Falcons handed Zimmerman a 7-2 loss on Monday in Foley.
Foley scored four runs in the third inning on two hits, three walks and two errors.

“That kind of deflates a team, and makes it hard to come back,” said Thunder coach Chris Riley.

Zach Nolan pitched three innings (five runs, four earned) and took the loss. Taylor Snow pitched two scoreless innings. Ryan Wystepik threw one inning (two runs).

Mack Riley was 2-for-3 with a double. Devin Quigley was 1-for-2 and Austin Tretbar 1-for-3 (double).

“Our hitting last couple of games has been much improved,” said Riley, “but we need to be solid with our pitching and fielding to compete in our conference.”

The Thunder (1-4 conference, 4-4 overall) will host Becker on Tuesday.
