Edwin Lande

Edwin Merle Lande, age 78, of Yellville, Arkansas passed away peacefully in his sleep Sunday April 20, 2014 at Twin Lakes Therapy and Living Center in Flippin, Arkansas after a long, hard struggle. He was born on December 16, 1935 in Oklee, Minnesota to the late Edwin Torkel and Martha (Hyland) Lande.
A Korean War veteran, he loved hunting, fishing, and country music. He and his wife, Theda, were married in 1969 in Minneapolis, Minnesota and then moved to Zimmerman, Minnesota. They traveled extensively in their R.V. He was a hard working man and started his own business, Eds Excavating, in 1973 but because of health reasons, he retired. They moved to Yellville in 1996. He was a member of Yellville United Methodist Church.
Mr. Lande is survived by his wife, Theda, of the home; one daughter, Tamara Stier of Denver, Colorado; two step-daughters: Julie Goenner of Foley, Minnesota; and Melanie Grupa of Elk River, Minnesota; two sisters: Mabel DeWitz of Minneapolis, Minnesota; and Darleen Rota of Claremont, California; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren; and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Leslie a Lande; his sisters: Anna Hegland, and Gladys Swett; and his first wife, Shirley Howell.
Visitation for Mr. Lande will be Sunday, April 27, 2014 from 1:30 to 3:00 pm at Burns Funeral Home in Yellville, Arkansas; Funeral service will follow at 3:00 pm with Bro. Donnie Hudson officiating. A service will follow in Minnesota at a later date.
Memorials may be made to Yellville United Methodist Church.
