Golf: Elk girls top Osseo in cold season opener

Two straight days outside in the cold have netted the Elk River girl golfers one conference win.

The Elks opened with a 170 to 202 win over Osseo on Tuesday at Anoka, led by Morgan Bleyhl with 39 and Samantha Lindeen with 40. Other counters wereĀ  Alexa Filipiak with 45 and Grace O’Konek with 46.

“Ice hockey conditions,” commented coach Dave Bleyhl, a former hockey coach. “We were outside for the first time Monday, to qualify. It was awfully cold yesterday, worse than today.”

It was mid-30’s both days with more wind on Monday than Tuesday.

The Elks have another NWSC meet slated for Thursday against Champlin Park.
