Softball: Royals clip St. Cloud Tech 5-3

Rogers freshman Melea Bruns won her varsity pitching debut as the Royals turned back St. Cloud Tech 5-3 in their home opener Friday.

Bruns pitched the distance, holding down the Tigers except for Sam Eisenreich, who had a double and solo homer. Bruns gave up four hits and three walks, and struck out seven.

Madie Mikolich was 2-for-4 with two runs and RBI for the Royals. Katelyn Kemmetmueller was 2-for-3 and Emily Hanford and Elli Anderson each 1-for-3, and each had an RBI.

Rogers broke a 1-1 tie with four runs in the fifth, after starting the inning with two batters bunting and getting aboard on throwing errors.

Rogers (2-0) will play at Monticello on Monday.
