Baseball: Royals lose opener at Chisago Lakes 5-1

Some leaky defense behind Rogers pitcher Adam Nauth led to a 5-1 opening loss to Chisago Lakes on Thursday in Lindstrom.

“Adam gave us one of the best individual pitching performances I have seen in a long time,” said Royal coach Brian Harapat. “We made multiple errors in the outfield and the infield. It really should have been a 1-0 shutout win for us. ”

Nauth had a no-hitter through 6 1/3 innings. He gave up two hits in the seventh and finished with 6 2/3 inning, five strikeouts and one walk. The Royals had six  errors.

Kyle Ellis had two of the Royals’ three hits, although also three of the errors. The Rogers run came in the first when Ellis led off with a double and came around to score on two ground outs.

Rogers will host Robbinsdale Cooper on Friday.
