Rogers auto racer Andrew List earned one of the awards for the opening day of the Cooper Tires USF2000 Championship Series Powered by Mazda season March 29 in St. Petersburg, Fla.

List, making his debut at this level after a strong go-kart career, got the Tilton Hard Charger  award from Tilton Engineering for moving up the most positions in the race at Firestone Grand Prix. He finished 12th after starting 20th due to making slight contact with the wall during his qualifying session. In the 15-lap final, List got as high as 11th before spinning while trying to pass on the final lap.

“It’s great to win the Tilton Hard Charger Award because I’m a new driver and we’re a new team,” said the 20-year-old List. “My whole goal for the weekend was to keep the car together and out of the wall. I mean, you always want to win the race but it was our first weekend in the car, so it was a huge learning experience for us. ”

The Cooper/Mazda series is a support series to IndyCar, so List will be racing at many of the same venues as the IndyCars.
