Five new bands and five returning favorites will be part of Elk River’s Riverfront Concert Series this summer.
The free concerts kick off at 7 p.m. June 12 and are held Thursday nights through Aug. 21 with the exception of July 3, when there will not be a concert. They will be held in downtown Elk River at River’s Edge Commons Park.
Elk River Parks and Recreation Director Michael Hecker said some of the new bands were recommended by residents.
“The public spoke and we heard,” he said.
One of the new bands is Six Appeal, whose six members perform as an a cappella vocal band.
Socaholix plays music with a Reggae/Caribbean flair, a first for the concert series.
Fabulous Armadillos is a classic rock band requested by many people. Hecker said that band may draw one of the largest crowds of the 2014 concert series.
Brooke Lynn is a country singer and high school student from Big Lake.
Pop Rocks is the other new band, featuring a dance party rock show.
The Rockin’ Hollywoods, a classic rock and roll band, will open the series. Other bands are Arch Allies, Shane Martin, Church of Cash and Hard Days Night, which will wrap up the series with a Beatles 50th anniversary tribute.
The concert series is sponsored by The Bank of Elk River and presented by Elk River Parks and Recreation.
