Darlene Antinozzi, a volunteer at Guardian Angels Senior Housing in Zimmerman, was recently honored as 2014 Volunteer of the Year by Aging Services of Minnesota.
Antinozzi has been volunteering for 14 years at the Pine Tree/Pine Cone buildings of Guardian Angels Senior Housing, where her many activities include gardening, sewing, dining, musical entertainment and decorating for various holidays. In addition, she drives residents to medical appointments, on errands and to visits with their families.
“I could have retired some years ago, but this gives me purpose,” Antinozzi said.
“Without the wonderful heart of caring that Darlene has, our tenants would not have the comfortable and welcoming building that they do. She has added to the building in time, talents and energy,” said Rita Waxon, Guardian Angels director of housing.
Antinozzi was given the award at the Aging Services of Minnesota Institute, an aging services conference attended by nearly 4,000 professionals.
