Basketball: Elk girls lose to champ Cougars 80-74, playoffs next

The Elk River girls lost their conference finale to champion Centennial 80-74 on Saturday in Circle Pines.

Centennial had three with 20 points or more as Daizjay Morris netted 24 points, Jasmin Bretoi 21 and Destinee Morris 20.

The Cougars (20-5 overall)  finished 17-3 in the Northwest Suburban Conference. Park Center and Anoka were each 16-4

The Elks had five in double digits. Gabi Haack sank 15 points, Shelby Gracik 13, Jayme Langbehn 13, Abi Scheid 11, and Anna Rollag 10.

Sidney Wentand added 8 and Molli Detloff 4.

The Elks finished 7-13 in the NWSC.

The Elks (11-15 overall) were seeded third in Section 8AAAA and will face No. 5 Moorhead (11-15) on Tuesday at 6 p.m. at St. Cloud Tech.
