Basketball: Elk girls lose to state champ Hopkins

The Hopkins Royals, state champions the past three years, beat the Elk River Elks 78-56 on Friday evening.

Liz Bulver hit 16 points, T.T. Starks 15, and Nia Holie and Molly O’Toole 11 each for the Royals, who are 22-3 and ranked No. 3 in Class 4A.

Ava Kramer and Abi Scheid scored 10 each for Elk River (7-12 conference, 11-14 overall) and Shelby Gracik eight.

The Elks will close the regular season Saturday with a makeup game at Centennial at 4 p.m. They will likely be seeded No. 3 in the Section 8AAAA and have a home game on Tuesday.
