Swimming: Bronstheyn third in state diving after two rounds

Elk River diver Andrew Bronstheyn holds third place after the first two rounds of state tournament competition Thursday evening at the University of Minnesota.

After preliminaries and semifinals, Minnetonka senior Patrick Quarberg leads with 317.60, followed by Eagan senior Toby Heller with 309.95 and Bronshteyn, a junior, with 298.65. Rosemount senior Daniel Monaghan, the 2013 champion, is next with 296.55.

Finals for swimming and diving will be held during Saturday evening in a session starting 6:30 p.m.

The ElksĀ  will compete in swimming preliminaries in three events Friday evening — Spencer Hlavacheck in the 50 and 100 freestyle and the 200 freestyle team of Hlavacheck, Owen Musgjerd, Nick Kopp and Christopher Thorndahl.
