Basketball: Thunder boys fall to Apollo 62-58, season over

The Zimmerman Thunder boys fell short in an upset bid against St. Cloud Apollo, losing 62-58 Tuesday evening in their section opener.

The Thunder pulled even with Apollo 50-50 on Max McNulty’s 3-pointer  with 2:45 left, but the Eagles scored seven straight points. The Thunder were down 62-55 before another McNulty 3-pointer at the buzzer.

Kristian Bright scored 19 points for Zimmerman. The Thunder, seeded No. 6, finished 10-16.

Jeremy Kroft scored 22 points and Ethan Novacinski 13 for No. 3 Apollo.
