The Elk River boys basketball team is seeded third in Section 8AAAA and will host No. 7 Brainerd in the first round Tuesday at 7 p.m.
Rogers was seeded seventh and will play at Buffalo.
When the Elks (15-10) and Warriors (14-11) duel, it will be a rematch of last year’s section championship game, won by Brainerd, although both teams graduated heavily.
The Elks beat Brainerd 49-29 at home on Dec. 28 when the Warriors were missing some players.
Rogers (9-15) has lost twice to Buffalo (20-6), which is riding a 16-game win streak.
Top-seeded St. Cloud Tech (22-3) will host No. 8 Bemidji (4-21) in the top bracket along with No. 4 St. Michael-Albertville (13-12) hosting No. 5 Moorhead (12-11).
In the semifinals on Saturday at St. Cloud State, the Elks-Brainerd winner will meet the Buffalo-Rogers winner at 7:45 p.m. The Tech-Bemidji winner meets the STMA-Moorhead winner at 6 p.m.
The championship will be played Thursday, March 6, at 7 p.m., at a site to be determined.
