Basketball: Rollag free shots lift Elk girls over Bluejackets 55-53

Anna Rollag hit two free shots with three seconds left to give Elk River a 55-53 win over Cambridge-Isanti on Saturday in Cambridge.

Rollag was pushed during a scramble for a loose ball near mid-court, and made both ends of a one-and-one. It was the second straight game the sophomore guard has delivered clutch points. She drove for a tying layup with :02 left in the first overtime in a double-overtime win over Osseo on Tuesday.

Abi Scheid scored 20 points for the Elks (10-13) and Rollag was next with eight. The Elks struggled at the free thrown line otherwise, making 11 of 21.

Guard Lilly Portya sank 19 points and wing Justine Larson 18 for the Bluejackets (13-10), who made 21 of 30 free shots.

Elk River will play at Champlin Park on Tuesday and host No. 3 ranked, defending state champion Hopkins on Friday in the final week of the regular season. The Elks also have a weather-postponed home game with Centennial to make up and the date has not been decided because the Cougars already have three conference games this coming week.
